The firm

A boutique built for the hardest cases.

SDP was founded on a simple conviction: intellectual property is a specialist discipline, and clients facing their most important IP issues deserve a firm built entirely around it.

We are a Warsaw-based boutique focused exclusively on intellectual property. We combine first-rate legal analysis with technical expertise, commercial judgment and years of experience that comes from handling difficult cases repeatedly.

We take the time to understand the client's business, the technology, the competitive landscape and the real objective behind the matter.

Our lawyers and patent attorneys have acted in some of the most significant IP disputes to come before the Polish courts and authorities. That experience matters not only when a case reaches court, but also when advising on risk, negotiating or finding a way to avoid litigation altogether.

How we work

01

Strategy before tactics

We begin by identifying the client’s commercial objective and the outcome that will best serve it.

From there, we assess the available legal and procedural options, the sources of leverage and the risks attached to each course of action. Procedural steps, arguments and filings are then shaped by that broader strategy - not treated as ends in themselves.

This approach is particularly important in complex IP matters, where the law may be unsettled, the factual and technical issues demanding, and the commercial consequences extend well beyond the immediate dispute.

02

Law meets science

Complex IP cases cannot be understood through law alone.

Our team includes patent attorneys with scientific and technical backgrounds. In patent matters, we engage directly with the technology, the scientific evidence and the commercial reality behind the dispute.

This allows legal and technical analysis to happen within one team - rather than being translated back and forth between separate advisers.

03

Reliable & Responsive

We take ownership. We manage matters proactively, anticipate issues before they become problems and keep clients informed without requiring them to chase for updates.

We understand that our role is to solve our clients’ problems, not to create additional ones. For us, good legal is not only technically sound, but also clear, practical and capable of being acted on.

Chambers describes our lawyers as “very fast and responsive, providing clear, concise and structured advice.” That reflects how we work.

We focus on the issues that matter, explain the available options and their consequences, and provide a clear recommendation rather than simply setting out the law. Our aim is to make difficult decisions easier for the client.

04

Personal involvement.

Clients have direct access to the people actually responsible for their matter.

We know their business, their history and the wider context in which decisions are being made. Senior lawyers remain closely involved, while the team is built around the particular demands of each case.

The result is advice that is tailored rather than institutional - and relationships that become more valuable over time.
